In this article, I am going to describe how you will convert rational number into an equivalent rational number with a given numerator or denominator. I am going to describe it n an easy way with suitable examples.
Q. Convert a given rational number into an equivalent rational number.
a. 3/5 = 12/ ?
Sol- Step1 - Take numerator part of L.H.S = 3
Step2 - Compare numerator part of LHS i.e., 3 with Numerator part with R.H.S i.e., 12.
Step 3- Just read the table of 3 till 12 comes. i.e., 4 times .
or, 3 * ? = 12
or, ? = 12/3 = 4
Step 4- Now , multiply 5 by 4 = 20
Hence, denominator part of ? = 20.
3/5 = 12/20 Ans

Q. Convert 36/96 = 3 / ? into an equivalent rational number?
= Step 1- Compare left-hand side numerator with right hand side numerator part.
i.e., 36 = 3
36 is how much times 3.
36 = 3 * ?
or, ? = 36/3 = 12
Step 2- similarly, ? * 12 = 96
or, * = 96/12 = 8
Hence, 36/96 = 3/8
