Two adjacent sides of a parallelogram are of length 15cm and 18 cm. If the distance between two smaller sides is 12 cm then find distance between two bigger sides?

It is one of the most important questions of parallelogram when length of  two adjacent sides  are given and distance between either two smaller or larger sides is given and you are required to find out distance between two bigger sides or two smaller sides according to basis of which distance is given or which is missing. We can best understand with the help of taking question.

Q1. If two adjacent sides of a parallelogram are of length 15 cm and 18cm . If the distance between two smaller sides is 12cm , then the distance between two bigger side is ?

a. 8cm

b.10cm

c.12cm

d.15cm

Sol- Here, Distance between two smaller sides is given i.e., height between two lengths is given = 12cm

We know area of parallelogram= Base * Height

                                                    =  15 * 12 = 180 cm^2    Note- Take length as a base here.

Now, again use the same area formula where we will take base will be width.

                = Base * height

or, 180 = width * height      here, height will be distance between two bigger side.

or, 180 = 18 * height

or, Height = 180/18 = 10cm

Note- Area of Parallelogram=  BASE  * HEIGH

NOTE- BASE COULD BE LENGTH OR WIDTH YOU CAN TAKE ACCORDING THE MAXIMUM INFORMATION GIVEN OF HEIGHT.
