A Rectangular paper of sheet of dimensions 22cm * 12 cm is folded in the form of cylinder along its length. Find Volume.

 In these days this questions has been frequently asked in almost all competitive exams. Today, We are going to describe to solve it in easiest way. Recently this question came in RRB NTPC,SSC CGL and IBPS PO exams.

Q. A  Rectangular paper of sheet of dimensions 22cm * 12 cm is folded in the form of a cylinder along its length. What will be the volume of this cylinder?

a. 462 cm^3

b. 460 cm^3

c. 624 cm^3

d. 400 cm^3

Sol- Length= 22cm

        Width = 12 cm

 According to question, Cylinder is folded along the length and we know that the base part of the cylinder is of circle  shape so, it will be cover a distance equal to perimeter of circle.

so, 2 pi r = 22

or, 2 * 22/7 * r = 22

or, r = 7/2 cm 

now, Volume of the cylinder = pi * r^2 *h

                                            = 22/7 * (7/2)^2 * 12 = 22/7 * 7/2 * 7/2 * 12 = 462 cm^3 


Note - Here we will take width as a height because it is folded along its length.
